i have long since wanted a project dedicated to my children…my oldest daughter used to have these wonderful Madeleine dolls, after the Ludwig Bemelmans' classic, that had the most interesting look. i was originally going to use those dolls as a basis for portraits, since according to my daughter, they were *real*. alas, they were disposed of too soon, so i was unable to use them as models. beasley, however, valiantly volunteered for the task of being the first official portrait for the ages :)

during the year, i will occasionally be invited to press events at the parks. these events sometimes host celebrities and offer a different photographic challenge than i am used to; journalistic approach vs. creative photography. one of my favorite celebrities visited the central florida area to promote volunteerism and i was able to capture him with some of his friends…kermit the frog.

i love old tin toys, unfortunately the cool ones are truly expensive. this little guy was part of a larger set of replicas i purchased with the intent to photograph them as icons for a web project. these are simple tests with lighting the biker…far from finished.

living in florida, these little guys tend to show up everywhere…even where you do not want them. this little guy was hanging outside the backyard while i was cleaning up one morning. i did not have time to set up a tripod and make some better macro shots, but these are a couple of quick handheld shots of this spider.
