i have long since wanted a project dedicated to my children…my oldest daughter used to have these wonderful Madeleine dolls, after the Ludwig Bemelmans' classic, that had the most interesting look. i was originally going to use those dolls as a basis for portraits, since according to my daughter, they were *real*. alas, they were disposed of too soon, so i was unable to use them as models. beasley, however, valiantly volunteered for the task of being the first official portrait for the ages :)

during the year, i will occasionally be invited to press events at the parks. these events sometimes host celebrities and offer a different photographic challenge than i am used to; journalistic approach vs. creative photography. one of my favorite celebrities visited the central florida area to promote volunteerism and i was able to capture him with some of his friends…kermit the frog.

i love old tin toys, unfortunately the cool ones are truly expensive. this little guy was part of a larger set of replicas i purchased with the intent to photograph them as icons for a web project. these are simple tests with lighting the biker…far from finished.
