I guess my interest in photography started early, it's likely my dad's influence as he had an interest in it. Even at an early age I was forever asking him what all the buttons did. I'm still a lot like that - I have a real desire to know how everything works and I ask a lot of questions.
It wasn't until 1997 that I developed my first print at a local college. I can still remember it; the smell of the chemicals, the difficulty in getting the film from the spool onto the cassette, the magic when this image would gradually and mysteriously appear on a blank bit of paper. It's not often I'm in a dark room now but I'll never forget that smell. Today my dark room is anything but dark, it now revolves around a PC. I'm sure it doesn't conjure the same romantic image in your mind but this is the modern world after all.
Since going digital I've enjoyed shooting a variety of different subjects and there is something special about each of them. It's emotionally rewarding to capture candid moments of a recently married couple when they don't think anyone's watching. Working alongside small businesses with people and ideas that I like and believe in. Seeing their reaction when I exceed their expectations is pretty powerful.
I like spending time getting to know my clients, who they are and what they want from me. Quality, thought, and hard work. I take the images that count.
I'm based in Glasgow and love to travel for both work and play. Take a look at my work. If you like what you see, get in touch via the contact page.
