Dick is a retired speech/language pathologist. He lives in Turner, Maine, with his wife, Carol, who also is a photographer.
Dick was ‘bitten’ by the photography bug in the late ‘70s when Carol took her first photography class at Western Kentucky University. She also continued further photography studies at the University of Maine at Augusta. Prior to the advent of digital photography, they used Minolta cameras. Since the introduction of digital photography, Dick uses Canon photographic equipment and Carol uses Sony photographic equipment. He and Carol have studied the applications of Adobe PhotoShop computer software at Central Maine Community College.
Dick prefers to photograph digital ‘candid’ images, but is comfortable photographing informal and formal occasions as well special events. His favorite subjects are birds of prey (especially American Bald Eagles), skateboarders, surfers, ‘boogie’ boarders, and cats (especially tigers).
His specialties are: 1) creating photo collages by ‘stitching’ and ‘sculpting’ two or more digital images together, 2) creating unusual digital images using Abode PhotoShop’s ‘special effects,’ and 3) creating photo montages by blending multiple images into figure-ground arrays.
Dick and Carol have lived in Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Maine. Carol was reared in the Seattle, Washington, area. They have traveled throughout New England, the Southwest, Quebec (Canada), Spain, Italy, and France. They especially enjoy visiting Chicago and New York City.
Dick has a permanent collaborative photographic exhibit (with Janet Mitchco) at the L/A Public
Theater in Lewiston, Maine. He has participated in past juried exhibits at L/A College ‘Area Artists’ events and the Lyceum Gallery (also in Lewiston, Maine). He has an on-going exhibit at D&R Framing as well as a current exhibit at the Auburn Public Library (both in Auburn, Maine).
