Traveling between Sweden and Norway I checked into Arlanda Airport's 'Jumbo Hotel' a converted Boeing 747 Jet! Heavy rain has set in the early morning of day 3 leaving the camping grounds saturated and given the artists a sea of ponchos and umbrellas to perform for, the 'Swedish Summer' appeared to be clearing during the afternoon but quickly turned around once again. All aspects of the festival remain active as do the spirits of passionate fans! Momford and Sons were to headline the main stage however due to a broken hand of their main singer they will not perform, they were replaced with the Magic Numbers. Hultsfred Festival (Sweden) 2012 {1}

Published June 15th, 2012

During my travels throughout Scandinavia this year I was fortunate enough to obtain media accreditation to Sweden’s long-standing event, Hultsfredfestivalen (Hultsfred Festival). Since the events launch in 1986 with just 7,500 attendants it has grown increasingly to 40,000+. The event once run by RockParty suffered in 2007 from complaints of a poor lineup, the company followed with bankruptcy in 2010 and was taken over by FKP Scorpio to be resurrected in 2011. The event now appears to be regaining its strength with a creditable line up for 2012.

Headliners ‘The Cure’ and returning to tour ‘Stone Roses’, both enduring and popular bands have cast hope for the festivals resurrection. Other names include The XX, Justice, Slash, Kasabian, Gorillaz (Sound System), The Gaslight Anthem, The Kooks and M83. Over 100 bands have featured throughout the 3 day festival held beside lake Hulingen where camping encompasses the festivals stage area.
