I was born in the northern Netherlands, and started with photography in 1986. I prefer to work with natural light as much as possible, so whenever the light is "good", you can find me outdoors with my camera. Even though I try not to specialize, I like nature, animal, landscape, night photography, as well as a little bit of city dwelling. Although I really like other styles, like street photography or studio work, its not really something I pursue to do myself. Since the 1980s, I've had my share of cameras and lenses. Including a Fujica ST605n SLR, and a Pentax Spotmatic. All fully manual cameras. In the early 2000s, I switched to Nikon. Initially, I had and old F3, but switched to digital in 2008, when I bought the D300. As of last year, the D300, is supplemented by a D3, which I took over from a professional sports photographer in the the Netherlands. I recently moved to Ghent, Belgium, for job reasons. The new surroundings here inspire me. In addition, I love to travel, so I'm also into finding new locations. The travel bug has brought me to all seven continents, including Antarctica.

Antarctic Expedition

Published January 20th, 2013

Two years ago, in January 2011, I was on a thee week trip to the Antarctic Peninsula, aboard the MV Plancius. Between January 7 and January 24 we travelled from Ushuaia in Argentina to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, the South Orkney Islands, the Antarctic Peninsula, and the South Shetland Islands. Below are some impressions from that trip. I'll add more to the story when I upload more pictures t o 500px.
