I try to tell stories with my camera, whether inside the studio, or increasingly, outside in nature. My work has evolved from the confines of controlled space in the studio to kinetic movement afforded outside: bustling avenues, train stations, unguarded people all play a part in my work as well as the abstractions often missed by a blink of the eye.
The serene moments afforded by wooded areas or the beach also play a dominant role in my pieces. As I find myself returning to these places to shoot I see them with fresh eyes. My mission is to help view the everyday with a new slant, a vantage point stressing the forgotten detail and the particular, the macrocosm and the microcosm in light and shape.
I like to catch people when they aren’t looking. My people candids provide a sneak peek into personality and catching a rich, unguarded moment with my lens makes me especially happy.
The intersection between rural settings and how people interact with those settings is also of special interest. I am always anxious to see what the next moment will arise from such juxtapositions. Living in Long Island and working in Manhattan, I am always presented with a tale of opposites in colors and tones and lifestyles. The release of my shutter captures both!
