Santa Anita, later in the meet.

Published April 10th, 2012

I havent really had much time to edit or update recently. After crazily shooting on night shift for 25 days straight sprinkling in freelance work, I got mono and was condemned to rest for 3 weeks. I had no energy anyway, luckily the weather wasn't too good. I wouldn't to get tired of staring at the ocean daily off my balcony( maybe ill include some shots of that.) Either way, mono sucks. NO partying, NO Hockey, NO photography, NO FUN. Im feeling way better and recharged ready to get back to work and start shooting more, and posting more too.

This time of year is the craziest, yet most fun for horse racing. Every major 3yo race brings hopes for rose on " The First Saturday in May" The photos have greater interest as people want to get a glimpse at what a future derby winner will look like. Our two main contenders, Creative Cause and I'll Have Another battled to wire in the Santa Anita Derby and have to be considered serious contenders for the Derby.

In addition to Derby stuff I also included shots for the the Santa Anita Handicap and the Oaks. The Santa Anita Derby shots im pumped on just because I was sick as a dog, going on 3 hours sleep in 2 days, as the boys would say just pure fourth line effort. Ground out some successful pictures, but it wasn't pretty. In the end the viewer really doesn't care how you feel when you make the picture but how they feel when they look at it... maybe Im getting profound, or just super tired...

back to the grind tomorrow but enjoy these photos, and follow me on twitter and Instagram @A_Evers for more.

These images are all copyright: Alex Evers/Eclipse Sportswire so don't be a a dick and steal images, and go check out ... its the truth.

Ron the Greek

When they hit the wire I was like " Who the..." oh yeah Ron the Greek, either way, he killed my remotes by running in the 23 path but gave me a great angle with the 400mm from the inside in the light... I really like when they run the stakes as the last race... lots of people there bad light... interesting phots.
