According to Hindu Tradition Sorha Shraddha(Sixteen Cremation) a 16–lunar day period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors (Pitris), especially through food offerings, begins today.

It has started from Fullmoon and will end at Darkmoon.From today next 16 days people who have lost their mom-dad will offer cremation after taking bath in a nearby pond or river following the Hindu tradition. During this half month long process people avoid non veg including spices like garlic and onion.

People who follow this ritual take one time meal and get their hair trimmed.
It is believed that death live on hair and ancestors fear of that. That's why people get their hair fully trimmed and have a bald head during Sorha Shradhha.
