Last April we travelled to Thailand and managed to sneak in several days in Cambodia before travelling to the Islands. The well trodden tourist trail in Siem Reap to the various temples in the Angkor Wat National Park was an overcrowded yet educational travel experience. As overcrowded as the temples are there still are a handful of photographic opportunities. On our second day we visited the floating village called Chong Khneas which resides on the Tonle Sap river. Extremely poor; divided between Vietnamese immigrants seeking a "better" life and native Cambodians - I found it both a humbling and eye opening travel experience. Great picture opportunities of this bizarre village are abound, especially as your ferry practically scrapes through huts bobbing on the murky waters where idle mean smoke on their verandas or children play games on the floor of their floating huts.
