I grew up in Germany. At the age of 16 I started with photography. I was influenced by a friend who got a Ricoh SLR by chance. We made our first foto session on a black&white film and shoot each other. After that shooting I was infected. I asked my sister to borrow me some money in order to get my first own camera: the brandnew EOS 650 with a kit lens 35-70. wow.
Soon I got in contact with developing of black&white films and papers, later on with professional photography. I got in touch with a professional people photographer in Düsseldorf, where I managed to get a short hands-on training. In the first shooting that I assisted, I had to help out as a model. It was an advertising campaign for the Region Ruhrgebiet and on the group picture, there was a kind of hole which had to be filled. So I jumped right into the picture. From then on, I was infected. For several years I worked mainly as a Sportsphotographer. But already at the end of the 90s, less and less newspapers where willing to pay a reasonable price for pictures. Therefore I decided at a certain point to get an ordinary education and a well paid job. For a quite long time photography was a kind of buried for me.
In 2006 I bought my first digital SLR - the EOS 350D. I still had my old canon lenses from many many years ago and I was wondering if they will work - they did! Right decision - 26 years ago. But at the end of 2013 I was tired of carrying tons of equipment and decided to switch to the mirrorless system of Olympus and Panasonic.
