The subjectivity of photography

Published November 7th, 2012

One of the things I like the most about photography is the degree of subjectivity it has.

As time goes by and as more photo I shoot, I understand why Gary Winogrand did the thing he did. He did not develop his films by a minimum of a year, in orther to detach him self emotionally from his pictures, to loose subjectivity. Although I think it is an exageration doing it for thak long time, it is good to let this emotion pass, at least for some time. Think this is one of the benefits shooting film, you take some time from shooting to developing to scanning or printing your shoot. I have to infer here that this one of the huge advantages of shooting film.

So, how much time is the optimum to hold photos before tweeking them? Well that is, I think, on personal basis, but at least a 2 week span will be a good one. Yes I know that Eric Kim has talked about this issue on his blog, but I did not wanted to let it pass one I have mentioned the theme.

Well this is a difficult and controversial theme. Bullfighting is difficult to see, I do agree in its brutality and, you can say, cruelty, but the real issue here, at least for me, is that I love it. I have breath, feel, sleep, and live it since I was born. My grandfather (my mother side) was a Torero (bullfighter) so Los Toros, is part of who I am, and I cannot leave them aside from me.

Through time I have photographed several bullfight evenings and I want to share them with you. Some will like them, some will not.

This is part of who I am, and here is my first shot fro my Tauromaquia Set.

My grandfather and his lures

Published April 12th, 2012

Well, I have been thinking on writing some story (or as it was called, a blog) since a long time back, I think the time has come.

Trough my photos I have stated that I love the street, and will keep on doing it, with out it I am incomplete, but not all is La Calle, and this year is the 10th anniversary of my grandfather's death and I have been thinking of his Lures (which I kept) from a while ago. So I decides in order to remember him with something he loved, to photo his lures and share them with you.

This is a good moment to leave behind the fears of writing and start sharing not only views but also thoughts and letters.

I will be posting more lure photos and I hope you drop some lines sharing your thoughts over the series.
