Taming the beast

Headed out for a photowalk in Satwa today with a couple of cameras while waiting to meet up with friends for lunch. Shot two rolls of 120 on the 500CM with the 80mm f2.8 lens, and will be dropping them off when I pick up last week's rolls from the lab tomorrow. E100 slide film and I don't have the best relationship, but I shot with Portra 160 in the other back, so let's hope something good comes out of it. I'm really enjoying shooting with the 500CM since I picked up the metered prism finder, no regrets there!

On the other hand, the Hasselblad H4D-31 that I picked up in Singapore earlier last month has been a really tough beast to tame. Nailing AF on a digital medium format system is like trying to shoot in a decathlon using a .22 handgun - lots of misses. Some shots came out well, but I need to get my head around the metering system - lots of shots came out weird. Blown away

It's been just two days since I stumbled upon 500px, and the quality of photographers here, the creativity and skill just blow me away. It has been a truly eye-opening and humbling experience as I watch professionals around the world manipulate light and colors to create stunning images.

I really need to up my game, but I don't know where to start.
