Ready for the New Year

Published December 20th, 2012

I've been looking at the photographs from the past year & honestly binning a lot of them.

From the early part of the year where I reconnected with my photography after years away I noticed that I was heavily utilizing Lightroom & Photoshop filters. I spent a lot of time recently learning from other photographers & from YouTube's like Kelby the fundamentals of composition & light, technique & Kit. A major block I had was to stop trying to add things to an image that was already there in camera. Layering HDR & dodge/burning ruined some already good shots & as I said before....They are now binned.

Using 500px has helped me a great deal, not only seeing the great work photographers are producing but realizing that it doesn't take a huge amount of expensive gear to create a great shot. Also the feedback is priceless. I look forward to seeing more great work on 500px & hopefully producing some good work of my own in the year to come.
