Günther Vansteelant

I've been taking photographs as a hobby since I was a kid. In the age of film cameras the frequency of photographs taken was however very low and interest was waning.

In 2002 I bought my first digital camera: a Sony Cybershot superzoom compact and my hobby gradually took off again. Positive feedback from family and friends encouraged me to take my photography more and more serious.

In summer 2007 I bought my first DSLR: the Nikon D80 and I practically became the family's dedicated photographer on events and family gatherings which probably explains my specialization in portraiture and event photography. After many tens of thousands of photographs, a lot of self education through the web and photography magazines, my skills markedly improved and I wanted a tool which gave me more artistic freedom so I bought the full frame Nikon D3s. A wonderful camera with high dynamic range and very good high ISO performance.

Due to continued positive feedback and the fact that friends and family insisted I'd do something with this talent, I decided to start my own little company and from 1 October 2013 I can call myself a professional photographer.

I want to focus on portraits and events because that is where my main talent lies. I listen to what people want from a photographer and try to capture these special moments so my photographs tell the story they want to tell and share.

Telling the stories you love!
