I am an amateur freelance photographer, took photos since 1980's. My principle in photography is "carpe diem." It means that I always have a camera with me, wherever I go.
My grandpa was an excellent amateur photographer, I have a great collection of his old portrait photos. My dad was also a keen amateur photographer. And so is my younger son. Is this in genes? ;)
Sometimes people ask me, how I take my photos and expect that I have an expensive camera. But... the camera does not matter... believe me. Sure, a state-of-art camera that costs thousands, will give you more opportunities to take special photos, but the most important thing is that you know how to use your camera, and keep it always with you, where ever you go. And don't overlook any subjects, often a simple subject at familiar surroundings makes the best shot. Learn all the time and don’t be afraid to experiment. That's what I've done all my life, you can do it also. Just take your camera and start to shoot photos!
