Axelle Emden

Axelle Emden is a french writer and photographer. She grew up in Paris, where she lives and works.

She has a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy from the EHESS (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales) and in Comparative Sociology and Politics from Sciences-Po Paris. She also studied Philosophy and Communications at Boston College in 2003.She mainly worked on media and democracy, liberalism, and representative governments, even though she dedicated her BA thesis to Victor Hugo's aesthetics. She was Alain Touraine’s Research Assistant for two years (CADIS-CNRS), with whom she worked on Muslim Laic french women (Le Monde des femmes, Fayard, 2007).

Axelle was a journalist for almost ten years (Figaro, New Economist, Evene, Muze...) and ran her own webmagazine during four years,, that she decided to close in 2011, when she started to dedicate her time to fiction writing, photography and video.

She says she could live on a desert island with no books and no camera, but not without music.
