Hendie grew up in South Africa, the son of the professional photographer, Eckley Dykman of Cape Town, he cut his teeth on his dad's old Kodak Retina. The love for photography stayed with him, and grew as he progressed, first taking pictures of school sporting events, then later nature pictures on hikes in the great outdoors of the beautiful South African countryside.
In 1999 Hendie emigrated to Canada with his family and lived in Calgary, Alberta for almost 12 years. In that time he undertook several road trips with his family across Canada and parts of the USA. With the advent of digital photography is interest was peaked yet again and the volume and frequency of photo outings increased dramatically. He finally realised a dream when he purchased a Canon EOS 60D at the end of 2010. Now the hobby is perfect!
In July of 2011 he moved to a little town called Shemogue in the Maritime province of New Brunswick where he and his wife now lives in a 175 year old farmhouse. The countryside is picturesque and waiting to be explored!
