What is photography? A picture that captures a moment? A picture that has been refined to a perfect work of art? A picture that visualises the imagination?
For me, photography captures an emotion that completely overwhelms and influences me at the moment of shooting.
Yet the picture captures only a part of my emotion; the air, the smell, the music, the silence, the feelings are missing… This is why I try to visually complement my photography with these missing elements: with a description, with colour, light, definition or blurriness.
Photography can be an addiction. The pursuit of the perfect picture. However, there will never be a perfect picture, because perfection is godly. And we humans will never be bestowed with this.
I began photography 30 years ago. My first camera was a Canon AE-1. I developed my negatives myself in black and white. Colour pictures I developed as slides. Ten years ago I started digital photography. Today I use a Canon E0S 5D Mark II for studio photography. When I am on travelling a Canon EOS 1D Mark IV and a PowerShot S95 accompanies me.
I was born in Switzerland and live in France.
