For as long as I can remember, I have had a fascination for and love of photography. I would watch my gorgeous grandpop carefully, reverently, remove his rolleiflex twin lens camera from his dark, worn, leather camera bag, and ceremoniously place it on his shelf, just so, and out of reach of my curious, clumsy, childhood hands. He would then disappear into his dark, mysterious, wonderful cave and I would watch and wait for him to return and present to me a photo – a little piece of magic. I loved my pop and I loved this magic; I couldn't wait until I could create and develop beautiful photos too. Thus, at a very young age, I developed my first crush – on photography.

This crush turned into true love when I got my hands on my first camera – an old hand-me-down Canon 35mm. I jumped at the chance to take a photography course at high school, and eagerly absorbed as much information as I could. My fate was sealed: I was in love with this craft – from shooting, to processing, to printing.

Wanting to move this relationship to the next level, I bundled myself and my old Canon together and we enrolled at Wellington University, New Zealand, in a Bachelor of Design majoring in Photography. Through these four blissful years our relationship blossomed into something even more beautiful and satisfying. My eyes were opened further to a whole new digital world within this art medium where anything I could envision while shooting could be created or accentuated through digital processing and manipulation.

Since those early days, my enjoyment of travelling has brought me to some of the most beautiful parts of the world; perfect for developing my love of photography further. Basing myself in Australia and Italy, I've had the opportunity to expand my passion from a personal hobby and create images for a more commercial market; from photographing Tuscan-styled dream weddings, to musician press pictures.

Following my heart to Italy, I had the great fortune to work on a book project for the Mostra Mercato festival alongside three other well-established photographers. To be published in early 2011, this coffee table book documents the festivities and celebrations – everything from set up to the performances and local artists – of one of the most famous festivals in Northern Italy.
While creating images, I am intrigued by intensified colours and simplicity while shooting. It's a thrill to be able to express feelings, thoughts, emotions through one simple image. Although my first real love is clearly photography, anything truly visual and aesthetic captivates me; whether it's a gorgeous painting, amazing fashion, a breathtaking landscape or a delectable-looking meal.

While images of my grandfather might yellow with age and curl up at the edges, the passion he gave to me is as crisp and clear as the first-developed, close-up photo of a very dear friend. I turn this passion into images, and I present these images to you.
