Ian Scrivener

Ian Scrivener is an Australian photographer who's passion for photography, especially of the art nude, stretches back over twenty years. He worked as a photojournalist and a commercial photographer for many years, though gave these up as he found the creative compromises unbearable. Now he shoots for himself only, mostly art nudes and travel. With his art nudes, he strives to reveal some of the private person in his models, not just the beautiful form. To find a real connection. He shows women comfortable and empowered. There is respect and caring in his photos. Scrivener prefers to shoot on location outdoors, which can be challenging in the harsh Australian sun. His locations are mostly amongst Australia's rugged rocky landscapes, or in abandoned stone buildings. He is fascinated with the contrast between old decayed stone and new flesh. Uninterested in fashions and popular culture trends, Scrivener has an almost work historical perspective in his work. Though shooting solidly for over a decade, he doesn't consider he has really started yet. His photographs appear in numerous private collections internationally.
