The Monastery

Published July 13th, 2012

From a recent day trip up Big Thompson Canyon to the Monastery, one of colorado's world class climbing destinations. I didn't get the camera out for much of the day but got some quick approach shots and a couple of Jordan climbing a cool looking crack. I really need to start taking pictures again, and this was a fun little outing that got me somewhat motivated again.

A slow day of procrastination...

Published April 4th, 2012

Trying to avoid doing the work I have to do for school, I went to Pearl Street with the Macro lens to take some shots of flowers. I'm a little rusty, but they turned out alright... It's another beautiful day in sunny Colorado.

Spring Break

Published April 4th, 2012

Well, spring break 2012 was supposed to be an epic photo adventure; however, it quickly turned into an epic climbing adventure after I became frustrated with sub-par weather in southwest Utah. These shots are the only ones I got from the 8 day trip (less than one full day was spent shooting) and while I don't think they're necessarily bad, they aren't what I was expecting. That's how life is though: you don't always get what you want, but if you're willing to stray from your plan and follow the wind, you end up with an incredible freedom. Now that I'm back and have had some time to think about things, I'm glad I got to see these places even though the weather was less than ideal for photography - Zion is just stunning, and Bryce could be an amazing place to watch the sunrise - but I'm glad I went climbing for six days with friends; we made memories that will last a lifetime.

5D Mark III

Published March 22nd, 2012

So I picked up the new 5D today and decided to go up to RMNP for a couple hours with my awesome friend Liz Blazer to try out the High ISO performance: in short, amazing. Barely taking time to set up, I was able to get some cool shots of Moraine Park and Longs Peak. Can't wait to see what I get while I'm on Spring Break!! More Soon!

Lost and found...

Published March 20th, 2012

So just now I became motivated to start thinking about the photography aspect of my spring break. First on my list of things to do was to empty my camera and double back up my computer (a process that will take hours while I'm sleeping). I found some old shots from the second Shelf Road trip and did a quick edit on one of them (I know the masking is horrible). It was taken from our campground as we were setting up tents for the night. The sky illuminated the golden cliffs with pink light and everything glowed an amazing color. Another great trip with great memories :) Keep checking the blog after next week for updates on spring break and the future for my photography

-Ian

EDIT: 500px isn't letting me upload the pic right now but I'll do it as soon as the site is back up.
