Jacques Fortier

A photographer based in the North-Western Boreal region of Abitibi in Quebec, Canada.
The region is situated in an area where the Northern air mass come in collision with the southern air masses resulting in spectacular cloud formations, constant changing weather patterns creating dramatic light and shadows. The low lying Northern light in the winter is sure to mesmerize any photographer and visual artist.
Personally, after a long hiatus in photography and a fight against stage 4 cancer, I returned to photography. My fight was partly inspired by the marvelous scenery surrounding me that I often neglected in my travels to the big city. It seemed liked nature was putting on it's most spectacular show to inspire and comfort. At times, a reflection my own various emotions, much like the nature of La Vérendrye reserve with it's hidden gems of nature with it's micro-climates, unpredictable weather and amazing light creating surreal scenes. I hope that I can bring to life it's own reflections and emotions in just respect for the inspiration it has given me.
