The title comes from a Brian Eno record. In its liner notes, Eno talks about his intention to make an album free of a deliberate process of interference. He describes a passive role as a point of discipline, to ignore the tendency of dabbling and interfering. That particularly discreet notion of making music made a big impression on me, and inspired me to apply those ideas in my photography work. Discreet moments, if you will.
They say photography should make a moment last forever; but I don’t believe in that. I think no moment is meant to last forever. Every photograph will be forgotten someday — A testament to our comings and goings — and that’s how it should be. Thinking otherwise would be naive.
These pictures are meant to feel like memories of a dream.
