April 24th, 2009 seemed like a normal spring day. The sun was was breaking through the clouds in the normally grey Seattle skies. We were headed over to my cousin Jennifer's house, tomorrow was her birthday. Her husband, John, planned a huge surprise party for her. I clearly remember sitting at my desk, doing the pre-party planning. The sun started to shine in the window, and I thought to myself, "Oh the sun is out, it is going to be a good day." Not more than 5 minutes later, my phone rang. It was John, and he said he had a problem. I was thinking of a normal problem. Something like the cake was not ready, or Jennifer knew about the party. But his problem was a real problem. He muttered three words to me that I will take to my grave, "Nic's not breathing." Nicolas was their 18 month old son.
