Giovanni Ameri

Giovanni Ameri was born and raised in the Morris Park section of the Bronx. Giovanni took up photography at the age of 16, when he funded his first camera, a Canon AE-1 program by stealing his brother's bank card and withdrawing $250 without his brothers knowledge or consent. This debt has still not been repaid. Giovanni's favorite subjects to photograph are his friends and his travels. He cites his influences as Robert Capa, Bruce Davidson, Felix Unger, Daido Moriyam and Edward Hopper. He currently lives in TriBeCa NY where the rents are too high and the people are too beautiful.

"It's as though there's a wonderful secret in a certain place and I can capture it. Only I, at this moment, can capture it, and only this moment and only me"- Walker Evans.
