Janean Watkins

Janean L. Watkins is a mother of six, wife, educator, student, writer, researcher, historian, bringer of the truth. This fresh and inspiring young woman creates futuristic novels, poetry, and short stories.

Janean began her writing career with Wright Times college newspaper in Chicago, IL. She is the founder of Seeds Literary Arts Journal at Northeastern Illinois University, as well as, the Editor in Chief for the NEIU Independent. Currently, Janean is constructing a trilogy fiction novel and concentrating on her research surrounding the framing of news stories in relation to marginalized people - and the inherent effects of that framing.

In May 2010, Janean celebrated her first international publication with an essay featured in Ebony Magazine entitled, "We Are Still Family: Same Gender Family". She served int he past as a contributing freelance writer for Patch.com.

Janean is highly interested in career pursuits that revolve around news writing, mass media research reporting, online media, and other forms of public information dissemination. She is currently a student, journalist, and is working on a fiction novel of her own.
