Emiliano Jatosti was born in Rome, on august 4th 1981. He graduated at classic highschool and then involved himself in humanistics and letteral’s studies, focusing on performing arts. He quit it in 2005.
He has always loved art in all its expressions (when he was only a child he already had a great talent for drawing and painting). He approached cinema first and than photography, wich later became his favourite form of art and the sense of his life.
Following an unlucky experience in the 1999 in a Trentino’s rafting school, he worked for two years in a photographic and graphic art agency, where he realized the official film as well as the pictures of the event “Miss Mondo Italia” for Artego, a company of professional hair stylists.
After he spent 5 years being the official photographer in holiday’s camps, (in 3 of which he was the first responsabile for Grandi Viaggi, Ventaglio and Valtur), he decided to follow his way as a free lance.
After travelling in Europe (Spain, France, Ireland, Netherlands and Czech Republic), in March 2008 he left for an important trip of his life: India, where he realized his first photo’s reportage. in June 2009 he realized an important reportage from L'Aquila, after the violent earthquake who destroyed the city. This reportage has been published by two important italian newspapers, La Repubblica and L'Unità. This work was presented as a preview in the exhibition "The Ghost Town", which took place at Palazzo Valentini in Rome, sponsored by the Province of Rome. Now, he lives and works in Berlin.
He is a photographer of impact, and the contrast of light and dark appears in his whole work, in the colours and in the choice of black and white. Iatosti may be considered as a dramatic-joker artist, for his capacity to catch the more important moments of a single life, where the eyes are often sad and heavy-hearted, but who doesn’t miss sunny smiles or funny situations. It’s simply a mirror of his being in the nowadays world and society.
