I was born in Massachussetts and lived 6 miles from Henry David Thoreau's Walden Pond. I developed a deep appreciation for nature exploring nearby woods and waterways. I grew up hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and snorkeling the New England coast from Cape Cod to Maine.
Upon moving to California in the 1970s I was walking in the shadow of the Range of Light, in the footsteps of John Muir and Ansel Adams. I took up backpacking and 35mm photography in 1974.
Today I'm a landscape and nature photographer in Galen Rowell's beloved Eastern Sierra. I lead landscape photography workshops in some of the planet's most exotic landscapes. I am also currently researching and writing a guidebook to California's most stunning landscape photography locations, to be published in early 2012 in Laurent Martres' excellent PhotoTripUSA series. For years I have been a fan of his first three Photographing The Southwest volumes, so I am honored to have been chosen to add a book to the series.
I'll share new finds and stories with you as I go; come along with me for the ride!
