My name is Jeremy; I'm a philosopher by degree and a photographer by trade. I don't have a personal focus per se, but what you will find here is a large collection of my live concert work with a smattering of landscapes and high magnification work.
Typically concert photography is a tad bit oxymoronic in that we (photographers) use a silent medium to both capture and share a performance that, at its core, is a wholly aural event that is accented by a transitory moment of theatricality. We can never fully reproduce the live experience as it is presented to us or anyone else at that given point in time, but what we can do is try to transmute it and create something similar. We attempt to create permanent artifacts that are both visually striking and emotionally challenging; but we can only sculpt with what we are given. My photos are an attempt to capture these profane performances and give you sound by sight.
Likewise, those silent compositions of beautiful faraway landscapes and desolate ruins also have music to them, and when working in the confines of silence I try to produce work that has the capability to speak in its own voice.
