Jesse Fox is a senior at Northern Kentucky University pursuing a BFA with an emphasis in Photography. Having spent most of her life doing theatre, a narrative element and the importance of emotion comes forth through her images. In fact, those two factors take precedence over many other elements of the photoshoot. She likes to explore the feelings, secrets, fears and fantasies a person can have throughout his or her life in the work she creates.
Unfortunately life can't be as theatrical & colorful as plays or musicals, so Fox creates a fictional version of how elaborate she wishes life could look like through her images. In the four years Fox has been photographing she has received three portfolio-based scholarships at NKU, won first place in MaidenForm’s “This Looks Right” competition, has had her work shown in several galleries throughout the United States as well as in the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China, was the portraiture winner in the 2010 American Photo on Campus Go Pro competition & was voted second place in the 2010 Best of Cincinnati contest in the "Local Visual Artist" category and #3 in 2011. She has done frequent work for various independent designers, magazines and bands, most recently photographing the album artwork for Foxy Shazam's "The Church of Rock & Roll."
Though she always enjoyed taking snapshots of her friends, she came to the art of photography quite unintentionally. However, she soon realized it was where she was meant to be. Now, there's not a day that goes by that she is not photographing something. In fact, the importance photography has had on her life is best summarized by a Richard Avedon quote "...if a day goes by without my doing something related to photography, it's as though I've neglected something essential to my existence, as though I had forgotten to wake up. I know that the accident of my being a photographer has made my life possible."
