I am new to this site and new to photography although I have worked with graphic design for a while and I have long been interested in visual aesthetics, composition, color theory.

In January of this year I bought a Pentacon Six medium format film camera. This model had been manufactured in East Germany up until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The lenses are huge and they feel very solid, they were made by Carl Zeiss (Biometar, Sonnar, Flektogon) and they are operated manually. The film format is 120 (6x6). It is interesting to note that 500px uses the square format to display most photographs.

Then I bought a Rolleicord and a Rolleiflex twin-lens reflex camera. My favorite Rollei has to be a 1938 Rolleicord with a Triotar lens with is perfect for doing portraits. These cameras are ageless and each of them works differently. The lens design (Planar, Tessar) is very old too, although it is still used today in lenses under different names.
