I went to Vincent Massey for Elementary School. My name then was Joan Fisher. I went to Crescent Heights High School. I became a hairstylist by taking my first year at Medicine Hat School of Hairstyling then transferred to Marvel Beauty college in Calgary. I then took my Aesthetics at Alberta School of Electrolisys and Skin Care in Calgary. Then I managed a salon in Calgary called Pizzaz Hair Design. Then I went back for some upgrading at Viscount Bennet in Calgary. Then I took my nursing at the following Schools.: Alberta Hospital School of Psychiatric Nursing. ; Red Deer College ; Grant Macewan. As well as taking 1 year of womans studies BA program through Athabasca University. I took my Community Mental Health Nursing through Grant Macewan outreach program via University of Alberta.I completed a correspondance program for my Early Childhood Development Diploma as well as Completed my Instructor training for CPR and ACLS. I taught Emergency Response at Alberta Hospital Ponoka to all Hospital Staff and was a Union Representative and Steward / Secratary /Treasurer for AUPE and was on the negotiating team for 2 hospital contracts.I married my school sweetheart; David Bateman in 1989, and he too was a Regisitered Psychiatric Nurse. We had 2 beautiful children , Joshua and Serena Bateman, and their Father (David) died suddenly post-op in 2000.We miss him always and know he is still a huge part of us. I am now
re- married with the same 2 great kids, a husband,
(Scott Cowan, from Windsor Ontario) 2 dogs a cat and a whole lot of other cool blessings! I operated my own therapy clinic for 3 years
(Peace of Mind Counselling and Research Services) but found my husband (who writes freelance and for the Medicine Hat News , was keeping me far too busy taking photographs for his interviews and travel articles. So I began doing more and more education for photography and worked for the Medicine Hat News for a summer cover-off and then freelance for them since. I then opened my own studio, and due to a very God overseen chain of events , I ended up purchasing a local landmark studio that has been in operation since 1918 and Jan Bunney , has stayed on with me to ensure a smooth transition for the studios legacy of clientelle. I am now the owner-operator of Gainsboro Studios and am able to do one of my greatest passions for a living! I would love to serve you for your portrait needs! Come visit me at 377 - 4 Street SE in Med-Hat or on the web: www.gainsboro.ca
