John creates photographic art, abstract art, and paintings. Sometimes starting with digital photographs, art is created using a variety of hardware and software tools. He is also a member of the Friends of the WNC Nature Center, the North Carolina Arboretum, The Great Smoky Mountains Association, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, and the Swannanoa Valley Museum. John has a Masters Degree and over 20 years of experience with Adobe Photoshop. His photography skills have been honed over more than 40 years of film and digital camera work. He started painting with oils in the 1980s. The Asheville Regional Airport recently featured six 20x30 canvas prints and Cheddar’s Restaurant (Asheville) purchased 3 prints that are on display in their dining area. John’s piece, “Leaves in Ice” recently placed in a CNPA competition called “Abstract Appalachia.” Other awards have been granted by various organizations and websites including CNPA. John has a show scheduled for Nov-Dec 2014 at a gallery in Asheville. He lives in Asheville, North Carolina with his wife, Laura. They have two grown sons.
