Jonas Nordlund

I am an amateur photographer from northern Sweden who develop software for a living, and enjoy photography as a way to unwind. My first camera was a Nikon D90 with an assorted set of lenses, later complemented with a Fujifilm FinePix X100.

I soon ended up using the X100 alone for a full year in order to "reboot" myself, intending to force myself into only a single fixed lens to better learn about composition, and what kind of photography I actually like most, what I would miss most.

What I learned surprised me. I barely missed any of my earlier six lenses at all! It felt like I got by to 80% with a single, 35mm full frame equivalent lens. What's more; I didn't feel like I had to force myself into only using that camera. It all came naturally, and photography got truly inspiring again!

Growing fond of the out-of-camera photo quality and manual controls of the X100 and making use of what I had learnt about myself, I later sold my Nikon gear and got myself the Fujifilm X-T1 with three lenses. I now knew what I would need and wouldn't. These three lenses were the 35mm f/1.4, the 18-55mm f/2.8-4 (in large part to get to a 18/2.8 wide angle, but also for flexibility), and the 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 for the occasional times I can't move to a subject.

For now, that is where I stand in my gear story, and as for subject interests, I enjoy landscape photography, moving in rural environments, and catching street life.
