Victoria approached me earlier this year when she got engaged to check my availability to shoot her wedding in October. We talked for a while and I was thrilled when they chose me to capture their big day! There was one complication - her fiance, Nick, was stationed down in Florida with the Marines, and was going to find it tough to get back home for an engagement shoot so they could get invitations out and an announcement in the newspaper.
Well, this seemed like a great excuse to go to the beach! I suggested to Victoria that we all meet down there one weekend when Nick had a couple of days break, and we found a weekend in August that worked. The next challenge was finding a place that was beautiful AND quiet, which during August in Florida isn't the easiest project. I drove around for a couple of hours before I was due to meet them and found a great little resort called Seaside, about 30 minutes east of Destin. We re-arranged our meeting place, got together there, and the rest of the story is below. They were absolutely a joy to be around and to photograph, and it will go down as the first shoot where I was shooting knee-deep in the ocean!
