The little village of Cerrillos, New Mexico. Not your usual sort of place, for sure. Dirt streets, crumbling adobe houses dating to the 1800’s. In the surrounding hills are many defunct turquoise, gold, and silver mines. It is a place where Time has sort of fallen off the tracks.
The 22 saloons and 3 brothels are long gone, the miners too have vanished in the dust. The Clear Light Opera, where Sarah Bernhard and Lillian Langtree once sang is boarded up; the
village sleeps in a stunned
silence. Even the ageless Mary’s Bar and the What-Not Shop seem to have succumbed at last.
