Julie Lea is the Founder and CEO of the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, the largest parading organization in Mardi Gras history. She is also the Founder and CEO of the Krewe of Pandora and the Nola Nyxettes. A New Orleans native, Julie cherishes all of the opportunities she has to contribute to her one-of-a-kind community and keep the spirit of New Orleans alive and well.
In addition to managing and organizing the krewe, whose membership is now 3300+ members strong, Julie Lea has taken many other opportunities to extend the sisterhood of the Krewe (and have a blast while doing it!). In 2013 she led the formation of the Nola Nyxettes, a dancing troupe which marches in about six parades each Mardi Gras season.
The founding of the largest women’s organization in New Orleans started with a simple idea: Julie Lea was looking for something fun to do with her girlfriends that was different. All other all-female krewes at that time were full, and were not accepting new members. So she decided to pave a new path of her own and open up an opportunity for ladies in the city who were also looking to ride in a parade.
