Bud Ralston

In this digital age, everyone is a photographer. My photos represent my vision of the world around us. In 50+ years of making pictures, my objective has been to draw the viewer into place and time. Underlying all my work is my desire to influence others to appreciate and preserve this planet and its occupants.
The works of Charlie Waite, Ansel Adams and Galen Rosen led me to appreciate beauty in a grand landscape or an individual flower. I’ve been greatly influenced by wildlife photographers like Frans Lanting, Moose Peterson, Melissa Groo, Gerhard Steenkamp and Tin Man Lee. Capturing images of great animals like Alaskan brown bears in their habitat as they fish for spawning salmon takes one’s breath away. Images of great blue herons and great egrets as they bring food to their young in expansive rookeries stimulate the imagination. Ted Gambreau, Zak Noyle and others like them have led me to appreciate surf photography. The courage and ability of strong young surfers who brave the force of massive ocean waves to get that perfect ride radiate from the print.
I hope you enjoy viewing my photos as much as I enjoy making them.
