For many, childhood events and familiar influences mark the birth place of some creative endeavors. Some have an innate affinity towards the arts and this resonates through their personality. Others tend to be cultural sponges and when absorption capacity is reached, spill over into what they were truly called and purposed to do and be. Tijuan Muhammad is one who’s love for the arts and culture has led him to use the lense to capture all things ethereal.
A self-proclaimed “eclectic elitest,” Tijuan’s love for the arts, music and photography and more specifically genres that fuse styles and amalgamate sights and sounds that permeate through his work. The musical influences of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Roy Ayers, the cinematic genius of Oscar Micheaux and Spike Lee and the work of noted iconoclastic photographers such as Gordon Parks and Blue Note's Francis Wolff serve as the foundations of his visual breadth. The contemporary works of Farrad Ali and Saddi Khali guide Muhammad in carving out and defining an optical voice all his own for his generation and time.
Armed with a Nikon D7000 and a thirst for capturing the moment in motion he can be commissioned to do private photo shoots as well as large gatherings, special events and private sessions, stills and moving pictures.
