katieDAMRON potter

a performer and artist her entire life, katie did not get into the photographic industry until her mid/late twenties. growing up, katie studied dancing and horseback riding, after high school she went to college at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and then an initial part-time job at Sephora sucked her into the fashion industry.  katie's passion on the model's side of the lens is in the fine art, artistic and editorial/fashion nude genres - at 5'3", 93 lbs., fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, and plenty of ink, katie stands out as something special. her posing is based on a lifetime of ballet and modern dance training, she's kinetic and fluid and breathes life into each shot by emphasizing the moments in between the moments the eye is typically drawn to. she's worked with more than 500 photographers, over 250 models and countless different makeup artists/designers/stylists and more from all over the US since the summer of 2008 when she began her modeling career with an underwater studio in lakeland, FL.  as a photographer, katie is just as adventurous and unique while working on the other side of the lens. for katie, she decided that it would be almost physically impossible to create genuine art without knowing exactly what was happening in the mind's on both sides of the equation. her first dSLR - a Canon 50D - was given to her in december of 2008 and soon she had found yet another thrilling and elaborately honest way to express herself. after having worked with so many photographers, she taught herself the majority of everything she knows by listening to those shooting her, throwing herself into learning the craft during every minute not spent on the other side of the camera, and shooting as many people and styles that crossed her path. after a few years of refinement, katie developed her "look" - and unlike her modeling - she tends to gravitate towards fine art, artistic/abstract and editorial photography - often involving nudes. she is not, however, limited to artistic photography - she is also quite an accomplished commercial photographer and can provide any services desired from family portraits to weddings to advertising to photojournalism. photography - in essence - is the answer to katie's lifelong question as to how she was going to utilize the lifetime she has spent training in various forms of fine and performing arts. models who work with katie benefit from her expertise on both sides of the lens, many models that katie coached at the beginning of their careers went on to model professionally. photographers also benefit from working with katie for a variety of reasons: for newer photographers, she knows how to guide the photographer for the shot their looking for as long as being able to answer any miscellaneous questions that every photographer has but are afraid to ask; more experienced photographers enjoy katie's endless plethora and diversity of poses and body shapes, and the speed and ease at which she can work; katie really is your completely well-rounded little bubble of knowledge floating around in the subjective oceans of the artistic fathoms - she'll be your navigator, your teacher, your inspiration and your solution - katieDAMRONpotter - art that twists and turns through everything the eyes can and cannot see.
