Nicola Bernardi is a Melbourne based commercial freelance photographer.
He was born in 1988 in Casale Monferrato (Italy) where he spent most of his early years pretty much doing nothing. After high school, he moved to Venice where he graduated in Oriental Languages, having Japanese as his major.
In march 2011 he moved to Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan to carry on his studies and explore that weirdly colorful country.
While there, he stumbled upon photography for the first time. It turned out to be such an obsession from the get go, that he started a year long project called “365 Project” where he commited to take the best possible photo every day for a year. During that time he worked as a photographer both in the wedding and advertisement industry.
In march 2012 he came back to Italy and moved to Rome, where he continued his career as a freelance photographer and had the pleasure of assisting talented photographers such as Steve McCurry, Eolo Perfido and Susi Belianska.
In march 2014, along with the cartoonist Scottecs, he cycled from the southernmost point to the northernmost point of Japan. All the project can be seen on : www.uncommonstories.org
Since July 2014, he's based in Melbourne, Australia.
He enjoys all kinds of photography, but discovered a real interest in portraits and how much they can broadcast about the uniqueness of people. His images combine a mix of commercial/advertisement look and finishing and focus on the stories of his subjects.
He worked with brands such as Jaguar, Opel, Martini, Vodafone, Specialized and many others.
