I have posted a few pictures from Paris, Amsterdam, and Brussels. I have an interest in architecture, streets and how they are used, and architectural features such as doors, windows and unusual configurations.

I shoot in color and convert to black and white - but only when I think it makes for a better picture or enhances the mood i want conveyed.

I like to see whimsical or unusual architecture - something that makes a statement or keeps a memory alive.

The photo below is an example. It shows what most of us would not expect - a painted fire-escape on the side of a multistory building. And it's painted using the characters from Tin-Tin, one of the most popular comic series of the 20th century. Created by Belgian artist Georges RĂ©mi, Tin-Tin was made famous with television shows, movies and a comic strip. It is a well-known symbol of Belgium.

When tourists see this, they are forced to at least question what it is all about.
