I was driving through Exmore, Virginia. There were a lot of abandoned buildings around, this is something I am used to seeing in DELMARVA. With the rise of corporate farms and more efficient farming techniques, there just doesn't need to be as many people out there as there used to.

This, however was new to me. Note the outhouses. These people don't have toilets in their homes, one of the homes didn't even have a proper outhouse. They just had a portable toilet unit. Can you imagine using a Spot-A-Pot every day of your life? In the winter? A couple of the homes didn't even have paint on the cinder-blocks, and their front yard is a swamp. A run off ditch from the surrounding farm land. I looked it up, the per capita income of Exmore is 15,000. For comparison, my by no means affluent home town of Baltimore City has a per capita of 22,000.
