Lenson Sim

Ever since I got my first camera, I have been hooked into photography. I have a unique name given by my parents, too, which relates well to my love into photography. The word 'Lens' in my name, Lenson, is like seeing the world in a different perspective. A lens able to perceive the world in a much more unique perspective compared to the human eyes. Therefore, I see the world around me differently especially when looking through the viewfinder.

As a pro-active and fast learner, I learn things quickly and have used many types of softwares and cameras. My experience and knowledge towards these equipment will definitely help, and, are applied as a photographer. I have a curious eyes in which I see many things in a unusual way, thus capturing it with my camera.

Aspiring to be a travel and documentary photojournalist, I like to take a journalistic approach to my photos, which tells a story behind every photograph. I believe a beautiful moment can be captured into a beautiful picture which can be kept for generations to come. I love travelling to new places and exploring new things. Photography has brought me to many different countries and places, and allowing me to see different cultures, gaining a new and unique experience every time.

I have shot and documented for the SIFE Singapore Polytechnic team for a 10-day community project trip to two villages in Tamil Nadu, India. I have covered for various events including the Uncasing of Colors for National Day Parade 2010; Holy Innocents' High School's HI Musical, a three-day event held at the Drama Centre in the National Library of Singapore; Voices of Spring held at the Esplanade; SP's School of Digital Media and IT Render 2011 graduation show and various events by the Singapore Soka Association. I have also covered other events like weddings, voluntary community projects, and school events as well as shooting product pictures for FM2TV.

Lastly, I haven't hiked the entire length of the Great Wall of China, nor have I explored into deepest of the deepest of a cave. But I dream to be able to photograph and document that experience one day, or write about a once-in-a-lifetime journey. At the moment, I'll continue learning, seeing things in a unique way and not forgetting, making great pictures.
