I am a freelance writer for art, design and culture. I am also a photographer and believe that capturing images might just possibly have saved my life. It sounds dramatic, but I believe it to be true. It certainly changed the way I see my world and provided a much needed way for me to convey more of my own artistic expressions.
Photography is much like writing. It is visual story telling. It is through my lens that I attempt to convey the visual tales I see around me. More than just documentation, it is art for me. Sometimes successful. Sometimes not. But I carry a camera with me every day and as I focus on a subject I see the beauty of line, content, and light. In post production, I focus singularly upon the photo (it is an escape of sorts) and I think that at times post production can be very a great medium for artistic expression. There is much I need to learn about photography, but I’m not getting consumed with that now. I believe that one needs to have a command of craft and that will come to me in time. For now, I’m just going to love it, and continue to find beauty… and maybe even sometimes truth.
In the United States, my photography appeared in 2012 edition of The Hartford Business Journal - The Hartford Book, Artscope Magazine, INK Publications, and was represented by Venetucci Fine Art Gallery. Now living in Sweden, I look for additional opportunities to write and photograph for publications and art concerns. In addition to my photography and writing, I ran my own graphic design/web design studio for over ten years. I sat on the Board of Directors for AIGA Connecticut - the professional association for design, as their Director of Communications. The business part of my brain still loves PR and marketing and I continue to work on networking, creating copy and outreach for artists, galleries and art concerns.
Please take a look at my photo portfolio for things I see with my eyes and wish to share with yours.
