The Tanks @ Tate Modern

Published July 17th, 2012

The Tanks are (according to the Tate Modern leaflet) are "the world's first museum galleries permanently dedicated to live art."

The Tanks will officially open tomorrow, 18 July 2012, to the public, however it has been open the past couple days to Tate members. There is a 15 week program of live art to 28 October which looks fantastic and exciting. If today's performances FASE: Four movements to the Music of Steve Reich is anything to go by, I shall be spending lots of time at the Tanks.

You cannot capture the art and I have not attempted to do so. The vast corridors and heart of the Tanks were bright, expansive and very urban. In contrast to the rooms with the installations which were dark, very dark. Taking a while for your eyes to readjust to the lack of light.

These pictures are about people watching.
