Random Thoughts

Just a collection of random thoughts I have based on photography. Read them if you want…..it might help you understand why I post so many, it may let you understand where I feel my skills are at. If you don’t want to read then that’s cool…change the channel….it’ll probably bore you lol. Some may like what I’m saying. Some might completely disagree.

CREATIVITY/STYLE

Photography to me, is like Acting. I’ve done a ton of shows in my life from Professional to amateur, to big broadway style productions you name it……I believe you can’t get any good at it unless you try to achieve, or imitate, what others have achieved before you. Only then can you find a style that works for you.

Much like acting, the art of imitation is key. Take a little bit of this performance, take a little bit of that performance and then blend it together to create something that is entirely your own. Once this has been achieved, only then can you adapt and add other intricacies to make your ...

Introduction

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself to the 500px world. My name is James MacKay, 36 years old from West Auckland New Zealand. I live with my beautiful wife Jennifer and my 14 month old Son Tyler. They are my world and I love them so very much. I have three cats and a dog (no doubt photos will crop up here of my family that I have either taken or will take during my photographic career). I work for a company called Apix Photographic Supplies in Auckland and I have a love for all things photography.

I first picked up a Camera in 2008 to test my hands with Digital SLR Photography and took an instant shining to it. Previously my creative juices were creating characters in Musical Theatre productions and also singing in bands. I still sing in a Rock band where I write the lyrics for Original Songs, however my main passion is Photography.
