Texas Tech Drag Show

Published April 1st, 2012

On Friday, March 30th, the Texas Tech Gay Straight Alliance student organization hosted a Drag Show to raise money for PFLAG Lubbock. As they state on their website, PFLAG is an organization dedicated to promoting "the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends."

There were two portions of the Drag Show. The first portion was for amateurs, and the second was for professionals. Many of the amateurs were students at Texas Tech, and members of the Gay Straight Alliance. For many of the Texas Tech students, it was either their first or second performance in drag.

Stuart Williams, a history major from Lubbock and prior president of the Gay Straight Alliance, helped to lead the amateur portion of the drag show as Medea. This was Williams' second drag performance.

A total of $1350 was collected at the Drag show to benefit the PFLAG organization.
