I've always felt odd about those 3rd Person Artist Bios which are pretty obviously written by the artist themself. Well, at least when it's about me, and I'm writing it. I like to think I'm a bit more involved in my life than that.
I started studying photography as a young teen, when my father (a sculptor) purchased a Yashika-Mat to stretch and grow as an artist. He became my first teacher, providing me with a Kodak Instamatic and the comment, "First you learn to compose a photograph, then you learn about f-stops and shutter speeds and get to play with my new toy." That, when I told him I wanted to learn while watching him get to know that new camera.
Several decades passed. I believe I've learned the composition lessons, and some about f-stops and shutter speeds. I think, perhaps, I am even beginning to understand light. Perhaps in another several decades, I shall be a Photographer.
