Qutb Minar

Inspired by the Minaret of Jam in Afghanistan and wishing to surpass it, the first ruler of the Delhi sultanate, commenced construction of the Qutub Minar in 1192.The Construction was commenced by Qutb-ud-din Aibak in 1192 and completed by Iltutmish.

The Qutub Minar was constructed with red sandstone and marble, and is the tallest minaret in India.

I have no clue why there were huge chunks of such rocks lying there.
But they made for a good photograph.

Inside the Qutb Complex ,lies the "Iron Pillar" known for its composition of the metals used in its construction which makes it Extremely resistant to corrosion.
